Musicians anyone?

Postby MantisJ on Sun Mar 16, 2008 1:03 am

I have a small theory, 'a person who learns musical instuments would pick PS up easier than non musians'. The reason why I made this statment is because I play the piano, and because I do, I was able to learn quicker than my PS friends of mine. I'm not sure whether its me practising it loads or whether theres actually a link, but I believe there must be at least a tiny little link towards my piano skills and PS. I started learning Piano ever since I was at the age of 6, I am now working my way towards my grade 8, tis extremely difficult for someone who doesnt have perfect pitch. So would you say it's true that if someone learns a musical instrument (e.g. piano, guitar, violin etc) would pick up PS easier than non-musicians?
I wasnt not sure whether to start this topic under 'other manipulations' (because of playing instruments is a different type of skill) or to start it under 'Philosophy' (because of this random theory of mine).

You'd think that playing the piano would help penspinners, because both require agile fingers.

Sometimes, I penspin for a bit to warm up my fingers before playing the piano, and viceverssa.

i play stuff (guitar and bass). i think that there may be a link in that, someone who is used to taking up a hobby that requires a lot of practice before you get any kind of return on your investment of time, will have the right mind set for learning to PS.
i've had lots of fairly random pastimes and i like putting time into learning things that not many people can do. guitar, bass, PS, rubik's cubes (3x3 + 4x4), programming in flash, chess, juggling, diablo etc. etc.

I have played piano for a number of years now and think that piano and pen spinning require very different movements from the fingers and there is very little crossover.

Oh and, be jealous, Asakawa, be jealous... FOR I HAVE A UNICYCLE!!! :P
