Iam trying to learn the TA and the Fingerpass lol, I am a noob........ I just dont understand the terms like: Continuous Midbak 1.5, Ext TA T1-12 > Bak Reverse 12-12, Twisted Sonic 23-12 > Bak Reverse 12-12 x2

Where do you find out what the moves are called and where do you find all the different variations, like I can find a Twisted Sonic but what is a Twisted Sonic 23-12?

BTW Asakawa, that was a cool vid dude! thumbs up!
Hope for the best, expect the worst, and take what comes.

Isn't Devil's Shadow Rise Bust Bust supposed to be Devil's Shadow 34 - 23 > Bak Rev > Bak Rev > Devil's Shadow 23 - 12 > Bak Rev > Bak Rev ?

Let's just not used names for combos... It's so confusing.

Where do you find out what the moves are called and where do you find all the different variations, like I can find a Twisted Sonic but what is a Twisted Sonic 23-12?

Tricks follow a naming convention. <modifier> <spin type> <normal/reverse> <start position> <end position>

For example: Inverse Sonic Reverse 12-23

So the last two numbers state the start position and end position. The thumb is called 'T' and each finger is labelled 1-4, with 1 being the index. So Twisted Sonic 23-12 starts inbetween ring and middle fingers and finishes between index and middle. The start and end positions are usually omitted if the trick finishes in the 'standard' position. A Twisted Sonic would always be assumed to be a Twisted Sonic 23-12 if no start or end position is stated.

Btw, Twisted Sonic is technically a combo (Charge > Pass > Charge) but is basically treated by the same conventions that tricks are (for some reason).

that was a good explanation mats. it'd be great if you reposted that in the general tips for beginners thread that voyager made as well. if we get enough useful information in that thread i can sticky it.

anton, a full breakdown of devil's shadow rise bust bust =
devil's shadow 34 > pass 34-23 > charge 23[0.5] > devil's shadow 23 > pass 23-12 > charge 12[0.5] > devil's shadow 12 > bakrev > bakrev.
the 'rise' comes after the 'devi's shadow' so that's the bit that rises. it would've been what you said if it had been devil's shadow bust bust rise.

and, honestly, i like named combos and i'm not all that keen on writing out long breakdowns. this might not be the current trend on upsb but i'm ok with that.

@voyager, thanks ^^
i wouldn't worry too much about trying to know what all the tricks are called and what they do. you'll naturally find that as you master the couple of tricks you've been concentrating on you'll come accross the next couple of tricks you like the look of. kam did a really good suggested learning order that you can use as your desktop wallpaper etc. which was really good. has that ever been posted on psuk? if not i wonder if someone can find it?

continuing my current fascination with palm down rises and falls, i'm currently practicing:
devil's shadow 34-34 > ringaround(bust) ~ inverse sonic34-24 ~ devil's shadow 24-23 > middlearound ~ inverse soic 23-13 ~ devil's shadow 13-12 > indexaround

i suppose i was going for a devil's shadow bust rise and the inverse sonic hybrid is the nicest way to move it up the hand.
looks pretty good i just need to make my ringaround a bit more precise.

Devil's Around ~ Devil's Shadow Bust
correct me if the hybrid is wrong
but it's when I do a Devil's Around i usually carry it into 12 rather than leaving it at 23 such as the Devil's Shadow does but devil's shadow is 12-12, Devil's around is 23-23

devil's around 23-23 > FL pass 23-12 > IA?

there's lots of funky hybrids you can do once you've learned the devil's shadow.
some of may favs are:
tornado(extTA) T2-23 > FL pass 23-12 -> an extTA with that reverse catch from the devil's shadow
devil's sonic rev 12-23 > FL pass 23-34 > pinkybak -> kinda like what you're doing but reverse and a sonic instead of around.
