Continuing from the old 'what trick are you learning atm?' thread...

So.. what are you currently practicing/mastering? Is it a trick? A combo?

As for me, i haven't been spinning much for the past few days..
But i am 'still' practicing on:

Continuous Midbak 1.5, Ext TA T1-12 > Bak Reverse 12-12, Twisted Sonic 23-12 > Bak Reverse 12-12 x2

about your extTA > bakrev, do you naturally catch your extTA ready for the bakrev (ie, with the COP 'inside' your hand) or have you had to learn to catch the extTA in that position. the reason i ask is that i naturally catch the extTA with the COP outside the hand, ready for a shadow etc.
i've been practicing the 'shadow bust' lately to train my hand to catch tricks like the shadow with the COP inside the hand, maybe i should try the extTA > bak rev too.

mostly i've been working on palm up stuff. lots of inverse sonic ~ pass rev.
also been doing loads of triple charge. it's still not as smooth as i want so i've been doing that ad nauseum.
if i do any palm down stuff it's mostly reverse at the minute cos i'd never really put much practice into rev tricks. so i've been doing rev devil's/demon's tricks, rev TWsonics, rev inverse sonics etc

When doing Ext TA T1-12 > Bak Reverse 12-12, i have to position my hand in order to do a Bak reverse. so therefore yes, i had to learn to catch the Ext TA in that position.

As for Shadows, i don't know are you talking about Shadow 12-12, or shadows that transfers to other finger slots (shadow 23-12, shadow 34-12 etc.). When i do Shadow 23-12 > Bak Reverse 12-12, i have to position my hand to do the bak reverse too. But for Shadow 12-12 > Bak Reverse 12-12, i catch it naturally in the position to do the bak reverse.

that's interesting. all shadows (stills or transfers) are the same for me. it's not such a big deal to alter the catch for a bakrev etc. but it's not natural for me.

I've been spinning a lighter pen recently, can't do much midbak 1.5s.
So i've been doing Neobak 12-12 > FL pass 12-23 > Midbak 1.5 23-23 > Midbak 23-12 all over again until i get it down on a lighter pen.

I'm still tryin 2 learn da extended thumbaround ....... I find it really hard to find the timing to rotate your hand so that the pen slots itself in da 1-2 fingerslot.

i've realised more and more that 90% of pen spinning is timing. that's why only practice can really help, you've gotta get the timing into your hand's muscles.

been doing a nice mini combo that i think of as a devil's shadow rise (though that's not an official name)
devil's shadow 34 > pass 34-23 ~ charge23 > devil's shadow 23 > pass 23-12 ~ charge12 > devil's shadow 12 (> bust)

rev devil's around 12-T1 > FL TArev

When you say Devil's Around Reverse 12-T1, do you mean like doing a Devil's Around Reverse 12 normally but instead of catching it at 12 you're catching it at T1? Bit like Devil's around 23-34 i suppose.

Moving on a bit now. Neobak 12-12 ~ FL pass 12-23 > Continuous Midbak 1.5 23. Not getting very far... done a maximum of 4 midbak 1.5s...

kinda yeah, imagine a rev devil's around 23-12 but mapped to 12-T1.
just thought that it would really be
rev devil's around 12-T1[1.5] ~ FL TArev[1]
(cos it goes to T1 it loses the last half rotation of the devil's around

i like that neobak12-12 ~ FL pass 12-23. i'm quite into all of those FL pass hybrids though ^_^

Ah yeah, I understand now.

My hands are freezing cold and dry its so hard to practice anything, I can hardly do any advance tricks!
May have to practice other tricks meanwhile until it gets warmer..

Ive been working on my bakfall and shadow fall
Its going quite well but I havent actually serious tried to learn anything new in ages. I just spazz out and freestyle linking tricks and stuff.
Currently alternating between my gold sunburst mx (although its not really an MX its a personal mod) and a basic ComSsa V.9
